PLACES TO STAY: Hotel La Posada Familiar. \\$7-8.00 for double with shared bath. Friendly and clean and cheap for the area. Restaurant with good cheap meals, and nice porch areas in front of each room with a table, chairs and hammock. PLACES TO EAT: Pupusaria Kevin. Cheap, good and filling (3 pupusas and salad for just over \\$1.00). Located on 2A Calle Poniente, 1/2 block west of 5A Avenida. SUNSET BEER: Punta Roca charges regular price for beers and has a great view of the beach at La Libertad. Take some time to visit nearby beaches. TRAVELLING ON: To Guatemala (La Hachadura): From La Libertad it's 3 hours to Sonsonate where you change buses. Then it's 1 1/2 hours to the border in Guatemala. Sonsonate looked like a nice town to stay in. To San Miguel: Take a bus to Zacatecoluca at 9 a.m. Then catch the bus to San Miguel on the highway - it passes at about 12:30 p.m. |

SAN MIGUEL: We took a break here on the way from El Salvador to Nicaragua and thought it was not nearly as bad as the Lonely Planet makes it sound. |

PLACES TO STAY: Hotel Migueleno is \\$6.00 for a double with private bath and cable television in the room. It's removed from the street and very quiet. PLACES TO EAT: There's a great, cheap pupusaria just east of the Bus Terminal on the south side of the road. TRAVELLING ON: To Honduras (El Amatillo): 2 hours. Also an easy border crossing. |
