Our farm consists of a hill that runs from the front to the back of the land and a flat area which becomes a flood plain/marsh in the wet season.

The 13.5 acres is divided into the following areas:

1 acre - citrus
1 acre - tubers
1/3 acre - coffee & cacao (500 plants)
1 acre - plantain & banana
7 acres - field crops
1/4 acre - vegetables
2 1/2 acres - forest
1 acre - fruit trees (scattered throughout farm)
1/10 acre buildings

CITRUS AREA

Just inside the front gate begins the citrus area.
There are nearly 200 trees consisting of 6 different types of citrus with 21 varieties in all.

FORESTED HILL AREA

When we bought the farm the hillside was almost bare. Our first project was to reforest this area

">

This newly created forest strip runs the entire length of the property. The forest consists of mostly local trees. These tree are used to protect the soil, create great hummus that fertilizes our flat area, provide fuel for cooking, and in the future wood for building.

If you are interested in seeing more of the changes around the farm click here.

There are other plantings which are blended into the forest area:

Located in specific areas are...

Various bamboo groves...

Banana & Plantain trees...

and Coffee & Cacao

Scattered amongst the forest trees are:

Fruit trees from around the world...

and Yucca

ROW CROPS/FLAT AREA

Alongside the hill, there is a flat area which runs from the front to the back of the property.

This is where we are growing our field crops which include:

Various grains:
rice, sorgum & wheat

Beans/Legumes:
mung, soy, garbanzo, black, red, winged, yardlong, edamame, moth, greenbean, peas

Other:
corn, sesame, flax

"THE CLIFFS"

We own another small piece of property just across a public path called the Camino Cemetario.
This area is semi flat with a cliff along one side. We have forested the edges, but left the majority open for additional field crops.
