CLIMATE: Xela is located at around 7000 feet in altitude and can be very cold during winter months (Nov. - Jan.) so bring lots of warm clothes if you decide to visit during these months. During summer months there are warmer temperatures accompanied by rain. Current Forecast |

HIGHLIGHTS: Spanish Language Schools Fuentes Georginas PLACES TO STAY: Casa Kaehler: less than \\$10.00 (US) for a room with shared bath. Showers with truly hot water if you wait awhile (precious in winter). Removed from street noise. Listed in Lonely Planet. Hotel Olivas: a bit expensive, but large rooms with HOT water. Removed from street noise. Across the street from Casa Kaeler RESTAURANTS: Cardinalli's: Good pizza & pasta. La Salida: Nice Vegetarina food. Lettuce salads here seem to be safe. Tecun Bar: Great pizzas. STORES: Pronto Market, on avenue 15 across from Giuseppe's Pizza. Large Cold Beers for 11Q. LAUNDRY: Tikal Lavanderia, Friendly, honest, & cheap, just up the hill from the Blue Angel Cafe. 6Q wash, 6Q dry. INTERNET: Tecun Bar: Good connection and the cheapest in town through our Spanish School. SPANISH SCHOOLS: Utatlan: We've studied here 2 years in a row and loved it each time. |
