The forest of
La Selva Negra

The canopy of the forest was thick which made it very dark on the forest floor and tough to see animals.

Though it was tough to see many of the animals in the forest there were plenty of beautiful things to enjoy.

Small butterflies with transparent wings.

Beautiful flowers.

And many other types of butterflies.

Despite the heavy canopy we did see some howler monkeys and heard many more troops throughout the forest. We also saw a large rodent type animal on the ground several times, but they ran too fast to snap a picture.

There's a howler up in that dark tree.

A forest cat, only to be seen in a cage we think.

There are also tons of birds in the forest but we were hiking in the afternoon and so didn't get the chance to spot many. An earlier start would have been much better.

We had a nice day hiking here. It really is beautiful and it's very cheap as you can apply the admission price to food in the restaurant.
