Cambodia is a country recovering from years of civil war and continuing political corruption. Roads are terrible and in rural areas only 26% of the population has access to safe water and only 6% to proper sanitation. About 1 in every 250 people (the highest rate in the world) in Cambodia are amputees due to the millions of landmines that still terrorize this country. In spite of this, the people of Cambodia are some of the kindest, most welcoming people in South East Asia. Along with the incredible ruins of
Angkor Wat, they are truly a highlight of a visit to their country.
