There are so many monkeys on the island, especially on the Madera side. |

We saw Howler Monkeys from the bus, walking the roads and hiking in the forest. There were a number of troups with babies as well. |

It is amazing to listen to them howling throughout the jungle. |
|
|

They are not hunted and do not have pedators so as long as their habitat and food supply are protected they will continue to flourish.

Ometepe is also home to the White Faced Monkey, which we had not seen before. We were thrilled when we happened upon a troup while hiking various trails behind Finca Magdalena. |
